The Bulgarian Institute of Bioinformatics (BIBi) is a non-profit organization engaged in bioinformatical processing in the field of genomic research.
It is part of the Swiss/Bulgarian Commercial League Healthcare & Insurance Group (Cardiac Institute; Heart and Brain Center of Excellence; Swyssi; Tchaikapharma; DallBogg; Commercial League) – the undisputed leader in the Bulgarian and the Balkans’ healthcare.
BIBi was established in January 2020 and headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, bringing together talented and motivated bioinformaticians from allover Europe.
What we do?
BIBi aims to introduce and integrate cutting edge bioinformatical knowledge, techniques and tools for computational genomic and proteomic research in Bulgaria, and to provide computational solutions for data processing by the application of high-throughput techniques (Next Generation Sequencing, Microarray, Mass Spectrometry).
Education
We promote and support the education of scientists in Bulgaria in the field of Bioinformatics.
Collaboration
We are open for collaboration with laboratories and institutes in Bulgaria, Europe and the world.
Development
At BIBi, we work on finding new ways to predict, prevent, diagnose and treat diseases, and thereby, transforming quality of life by contributing to the European research landscape.
Our projects
Our future goal is to develop a phenotype-genotype database of Bulgarian individuals with different clinical background and support the identification of biomarkers for different types of neoplasms (oncological disorders), as well as for certain cardiovascular and neurological disorders.
